For equal gender opportunities in the river, maritime and port sector.
The head of the “Fempinra”, Juan Carlos Schmid, highlighted the importance of addressing this issue regarding an activity that in recent years has been incorporating the female presence in almost all activities.
The event was organized by the Gender Secretariat of the Maritime and Port Federation of the Argentine Republic.
In this sense, the union leader, Juan Carlos Schmid, made the presentation of the main speaker of the day, Dora Barrancos, president of the advisory council of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, who addressed the theme of this “disruptive phenomenon that somehow has been setting the national and international agenda in recent years as has the women’s movement ”.
As Schmid pointed out, “this implies assuming the challenge of incorporating knowledge, searching for new customs, re-establishing new relationships; and above all to find balance and respect in relationships between men and women. “

It was explained that we are part of a society tailored to man and that activities of this nature are needed in order to understand this multifaceted phenomenon of women, where they fight for a series of just claims. “From my point of view, looking for a concrete place in society, which is neither behind nor ahead of man, but next to him, to build a more just society, so that there is less violence and to be able to forge a common destiny as a society; as a people and a species,” he concluded.
Evangelina Ortiz, head of the Secretariat for Gender Equality and Opportunities of the Maritime, Port, and Naval Industry Federation, participated in the event as its organizer. Also present was Florencia Esperón, director of Gender Policies of the Ministry of Transportation of the Nation, and different trade union associations, such as the Center for River Patterns, among other participants linked to maritime activity and Fempinra. On behalf of the Union of Dredging and Beaconing, were Roberto Milio; also Edgardo Muñoz, who took the floor and insisted that “we must open the doors to women on equal terms.”
The objective of the Fempinra is to create awareness in the sector about the gender equality necessary in the activity.
