International processing of soya beans to its lowest

Currently, Argentina is one of the main exporters of soya by-products at an international level. The added value to primary production and its subsequent shipment across borders give the country great relevance in the oilseed complex trade.

However, the global context drove the internal processing of soya beans to its lowest in the last 7 years. Compared to last year, the decrease in processing for July 2020 is 21,389 tons, which implies a 10% reduction in the tonnage.

On the other hand, the volume of business arranged for the new corn campaign remains slightly below compared to last year’s, representing a decrease of almost 10% in total purchases. It should be taken into account that the climatic conditions presented in the Argentinean core zone generate uncertainty. Despite this, commercialization has remained active and maize value has evolved positively.

Regarding the international context, Chicago’s soya bean and maize market showed similar movements regarding their prices, although soybeans were more favored in terms of values. The relevance of the North American climate market is notable since a large part of these movements were the consequence of the recent vicissitudes that occurred these days in the US Midwest.
