Technical-Economic Feasibility Study for the improvement of the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway
A group of private entities and companies prepared a technical-economic feasibility study for the Trunk Waterway of the Paraná and the Río de la Plata rivers, which aims to achieve a more productive transportation system, with multiplier effects and economic benefits for the entire Argentine society.
This study should be understood as a contribution of information from the private sector that will improve the dredging and signaling tasks. Investments of approximately US $ 800 million and maintenance expenses of approximately U$D 3,000 million are expected, in a 15-year concession.

With these improvements, transportation costs would be reduced by 20% per ton transported, measured in U$D. For example, the study concludes that with a toll rate of U$D 2.82 per net registered ton, 8% lower than the current U$D 3.06, it would be enough to finance all expansion works and deepening that is proposed.
Finally, this project seeks to constitute a Control Body of the concession with the participation of the Nation, the provinces, and representatives of the private sector with long-term interests in the Trunk Navigation System
